2026 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Performance Highlights
- 297 combined horsepower
- 22.7-kWh battery pack
- 45 miles of EPA-estimated EV range
- Standard Super All-Wheel Control
- 73 MPGe combined
- DC fast charging available
- 420-mile total driving range
The 2026 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV has a meaningful performance advantage on paper. It delivers 297 combined horsepower, which is 36 horsepower more than the Kia Sportage PHEV’s 261 hp. It also offers a much larger 22.7-kWh battery compared with the Sportage PHEV’s 13.8-kWh pack, which helps the Outlander PHEV deliver 45 miles of all-electric driving range versus 34 miles in the Kia. For drivers who want to complete more local commuting, school runs, or errands without using gasoline, that extra EV range is one of the biggest reasons to look closely at the Mitsubishi.
2026 Kia Sportage PHEV Performance Highlights
- 261 combined horsepower
- 13.8-kWh battery pack
- 34 miles of EPA-estimated EV range
- Standard AWD
- 84 MPGe combined
- 430-mile total driving range
The Sportage PHEV is still efficient and practical, and it actually posts the better MPGe and gas-only MPG figures. But the Outlander PHEV gives Buffalo drivers more electric range, more power, and the ability to recharge more quickly with available DC fast charging, which remains rare in this class. Mitsubishi lists approximate charging to 80% in about 29 minutes via CHAdeMO DC fast charging on applicable trims, while the Sportage PHEV does not offer DC fast charging.
